Belt in Oil Engines
Here at Mitsiland we like to post about the jobs we have here in the workshop. Our latest case involved a DS with a 1.2 Puretech engine that belonged to a district nurse. She called us in a panic and asked if we could help. The symptoms were a low oil pressure warning light and a restricted performance issue. After carrying out the usual checks and finding no obvious issues we opted to remove the sump.
It was upon its removal we were greeted with a clogged oil pump pick up pipe. Further investigation revealed these fragments to be pieces of the deteriorating timing belt. The scary thing was the car was out of warranty it had only covered 30k miles and it was not due a timing belt change for another 12 months / 16k miles. If you are worried about any issues with your car then make contact sooner rather than later as issues like this could potentially prove catastrophic.
